Hello,
My laptop won't turn on.
I went to bed last night with it off charge and tried to turn it on this morning but stayed black. Soni plugged it in waited for the orange light to turn white and tried again. Still nothing. I have have done a hard reset for non removable battery type laptop 2x and still not initiating startup. What else can I do?

@MurphyFamily13, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be when your laptop won’t power on, especially after trying a hard reset. Let’s go through a few more steps to help get your device up and running again.
Confirm Power Supply and Charging
- Ensure the power adapter is working. Try a different wall outlet.
- Check if the charging LED is solid white (fully charged) or blinking/orange (charging).
- If available, try using a different compatible HP charger.
Perform a Hard Reset (Again)
Since you’ve already tried this, please ensure it’s done exactly as follows for non-removable battery models:
- Disconnect the charger.
- Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the charger (without pressing any keys) and try turning it on.
Check for Signs of Life
- Do you hear any fan noise, see keyboard backlight, or feel warmth?
- If no lights or sounds, it could indicate a hardware issue (motherboard, power circuit, etc.).
Try an External Display
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI.
- Power on the laptop and press F4 or Windows + P to toggle display modes.
- This helps rule out a screen/display issue.
BIOS Recovery (if applicable)
Some HP laptops support BIOS recovery even if the screen is black:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
- Release all keys and wait. You might hear beeps or see the BIOS recovery screen.
If these steps don't help, then please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
