@Bey45, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the sound regulation issue on your HP 17-cp2xx laptop running Windows 11 Version 23H2:
Check Sound Settings
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.
- Select "Open Sound settings".
- Under Output, ensure the correct audio device (e.g., Realtek, Speakers/Headphones) is selected.
- Try adjusting the volume slider here to see if it responds.
Run HP Audio Check
HP provides a built-in diagnostic tool to detect and fix sound issues:
- Visit the HP Audio Check Tool and follow the prompts to run diagnostics.
Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek Audio) and choose:
- Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
- If that doesn’t help, choose Uninstall device, check Delete the driver software, and restart your PC. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
- Alternatively, download the latest audio driver from the HP Software & Driver Downloads page.
Use Windows Troubleshooter
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Find Playing Audio and click Run.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
