@Bey45, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the sound regulation issue on your HP 17-cp2xx laptop running Windows 11 Version 23H2:

Check Sound Settings

  1. Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.
  2. Select "Open Sound settings".
  3. Under Output, ensure the correct audio device (e.g., Realtek, Speakers/Headphones) is selected.
  4. Try adjusting the volume slider here to see if it responds.

Run HP Audio Check

HP provides a built-in diagnostic tool to detect and fix sound issues:

Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek Audio) and choose:
    • Update driverSearch automatically for drivers.
    • If that doesn’t help, choose Uninstall device, check Delete the driver software, and restart your PC. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
  4. Alternatively, download the latest audio driver from the HP Software & Driver Downloads page.

Use Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  3. Find Playing Audio and click Run.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
