For some reason the hp smart app keeps messing up and corrupting my sd cards this is like the 4th memory card I've gone threw and the only response I get from hp was to try a new card like are you kidding I can't afford to keep buying new SD cards everytime this happens. Had anyone else had this issue?

Hi @Thereaper1775,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Smart App!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check SD Card Health:

  • Before using a new SD card, test it on a different device to ensure it is not already defective.
  • You can use tools like H2testw or CrystalDiskInfo to check the health and integrity of your SD cards.

Update HP Smart App:

  • Verify that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed from the Microsoft Store, Apple App Store, or Google Play Store, depending on your device.
  • Ensure your operating system is up to date as well.

Reinstall HP Smart App:

  • Uninstall the HP Smart app and then reinstall it. This can clear any potential corruptions or bugs within the app.
    • On Windows: Go to Settings > Apps, find HP Smart, and uninstall. Then download and install it again from the Microsoft Store.
    • On macOS: Drag the HP Smart app to Trash, empty the Trash, and reinstall from the App Store.
    • On mobile devices: Long press the HP Smart app and select Uninstall, then reinstall from the respective app store.

Format SD Cards:

  • Make sure to properly format your SD cards before using them with the HP Smart app. Use the standard formatting tools of your operating system:
    • On Windows: Right-click on the SD card in File Explorer, select Format, choose the file system (usually FAT32 or exFAT), and start the format.
    • On macOS: Use Disk Utility to erase and format the SD card.

Use a Different Card Reader:

  • If you are using an external card reader, it could be the cause of the SD card corruption. Try using a different card reader to see if the problem persists.

Disable Write Caching:

  • Disabling write caching for the SD card may help prevent corruption:
    • On Windows: Go to Device Manager, find your SD card under Disk drives, right-click it, choose Properties, go to the Policies tab, and select Quick removal (default).

I hope this helps.
